4 Time Patriot League Baseball Champions!!!!

The Silver Lake Lakers baseball team finished off a school record setting performance by defeating arch rival Pembroke 12-2 to win their 4th consecutive Patriot League Championship, and 6th league championship in school history.

Jason Johndrow pitched a complete game striking out 12 and went 2-3 with 3 RBI. Nate Youseff went 3-3 with a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored, Evan McSherry went 3-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, and Anthony Videtto went 2-4 with a triple, double and an RBI, and Tanner Bouchard went 2-4, a double, a run scored and 2 stolen bases.

The Lakers finished the regular season 15-7, 11-4 and await their tourney seeding/opponent on Monday.

Congratulations to all of the Laker baseball players on their record setting achievement!

Patriot league baseball score 5/27/15: Silver Lake 5 Duxbury 4

Entering the 6th inning Silver Lake trailed Duxbury 3-1 when Will Gallagher, Dan Cole, Nate Youseff and Josh Harvey strung together 4 straight hits. Harvey's hit drove in the tying run in and Evan McSherry's infield single drove in the go ahead run putting the Lakers up 4-3. Duxbury came right back in the top of the 7th when Melempy dropped a single to right scoring Brendan Kates. The sea-saw battle continued to the bottom of the 7th when Silver Lake loaded the bases with two outs and plated the winning run on a wild pitch.

For Silver Lake Anthony Videtto pitched the first 6+, striking out 4, giving up no earned runs. Jason Johndrow got the win as he struck out the side in the top of the 7th in relief of Videtto. Duxbury's Danny Graceffa was just as good as he pitched the first 6 1/3, striking out 5.

SL v North Quincy : Silver Lake boys tennis defeated North Quincy at home 5-0.   Remaining undefeated is first singles player Tim Khayat and Harry Ryan improved his very impressive record to 13-2. Nathan Lantieri played a great match at 3rd singles and both first doubles, Kyle Gravel and Weston Smith and 2nd doubles Pat Kelley and Josh Bean dominated their matches.

Patriot League girls lacrosse

Silver Lake girls lacrosse lost a tough game at home to Quincy 10-9.  Kerry Phelan had 5 goals and Noreen Pianooy added 2 for Quincy who won for the third time this season.  Silver Lake was led by Sam Medlin who had 5 second half goals to keep the game close.  Julia Gillis came off the bench to add 2 goals and Emily Skerritt and Mikayla Wilson each scored a goal in the loss. Rebecca Doyle had a strong defensive game for the Lakers who now fall to 2-11 on the season.

In a non-league contest between two Patriot League teams Silver Lake defeated Plymouth South 5-2. Freshman Dan Collins earned his first career varsity win going the distance striking out 4. Mike Melanson went 1-3 with a run single in the first. Mike also threw a runner out at home plate from right field.

The Panthers Ryan Obin bounced back from a rocky first inning to pitch a complete game striking out 9.

SL Varsity Lacrosse

Boy's varsity lacrosse finished off our season in style with an 11-10
OT win at Milton. Senior Brendan Guilderson scored with 42 seconds left in regulation. A strong OT faceoff by senior Sean Harkins allowed the SL offense to possess the ball. Kyle Durant found a streaking sophomore Nolan McDonald with 1:12 left for the game winner. Senior Juni Jordan had 3g, while Brendan Guilderson and Nolan McDonald each had 2g. Junior Justin Masterson had 9 saves. Congrats to the seniors and all the players.

SLv PN at home 5/18 2-3 lost bringing SL boys record to 6-8.   Winning at first singles Tim Khayat and second single Harry Ryan.  Great efforts by 3rd singles Nathan Lantieri and doubles teams Kyle Gravel and Weston Smith at first and Pat Kelley and Josh Bean at second.  SL plays North Quincy Wednesday at home.

Jason Johndrow carried a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings before Cam Drew broke it up with a single. On the day Jason struck out 9. Anthony Videtto went 2-3, Adam Gay went 1-3 with an RBI and Will Gallagher went 2-3 and scored two runs.

On the losing end Joe Walsh pitched a complete game giving up 6 hits and striking out 7.

SL at WH 5/15 resulted in a 2-3 lost for SL.  Singles players Tim Khayat and Harry Ryan won easily.  Third singles player, Nathan Lantieri,  along with 1st doubles, Kyle gravel and Weston Smith and 2nd doubles, Pat Kelley and Josh Bean, fought hard against solid and seasoned WH doubles teams.

Both Tim and Harry competed in the South Sectional Individual Tennis Tournament this weekend.  Harry advanced to the second round before losing to Barnstable's ( 3rd seed) second singles player.  Tim, seeded second in the tournament has advanced to next weekends play at Newton North High School.  Congratulations to both players for their efforts, and sportsmanship.

Silver Lake's Jason Johndrow pitched the first 5 innings striking out 7 to earn the win. Adam Gay went 2-2, a HR, a double, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. Josh Harvey went 2-4 w a double, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. Nate Youseff 3-4, a triple, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI for the Lakers. With the win the Lakers (11-5, 8-3) qualified for the tourney for the 7th year in a row.

Nate Perkins went 3-4 with 2 runs scored for the Panthers.

The Lakers (10-5, 7-3) sent 8 men to the plate in the second inning highlighted by Anthony Videtto's home run. Mike Melanson (2 2/3IP, 2 K) got the win in relief of Tim Collins (3 1/3IP, 3 K, 4 runs/1 ER). Jason Johndrow (2 Ks) got the save pitching the final inning.

Oliver Lynch pitched well for Quincy (2-12) settling down nicely after a tough second inning.

Patriot League Girls Lacrosse

Pembroke traveled to Silver Lake this afternoon and came away with their first win of the season 16-12. Ali Bostwick had 4 goals, Erica Timlin, Bailey Parks, and Annie Gautino all had 3 goals in the win for Pembroke. Sr Sam Medlin had 4 goals and Emily Skerritt and Nina Whidden each added 2 in the loss. Pembroke got ahead early and played well down the stretch to hold off a charging Laker squad. The loss drops SL to 2-9 on the season.

Boy's Varsity Lacrosse

Varsity lacrosse earned an 8-3 halftime lead and held on in the second half to beat Pembroke 10-8.  Justin Masterson playing in his first full start for varsity, made 12 saves and was the voice of the defense.  Kyle Durant led the offense with 4g and 1a. Freshman Owen Nally scored his first varsity goal 40 seconds in to making his first varsity appearance.  He finished the game with 1g, 3a.  Varsity plays again at home on Thursday vs. North Quincy.  Halftime of the game will be senior recognition.  Please join us to cheer on our team vs. North Quincy and help celebrate our seniors.  

SL v Duxbury

SL played Duxbury away yesterday resulting in a 1-4 lost for SL.  SL's first singles player Tim Khayiat remains undefeated as he defeated Duxbury's undefeated first singles player in a grueling nearly 3 hour match 7-5, 6-4.  Way to go SL boys tennis

For the game Evan McSherry went 2-5 with a 2 run double and run scored, Nate Youseff went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored and Josh Harvey went 1-2, 4 RBI and a run scored.

SL boys tennis beat  Middleboro at home yesterday 4-1.  Winning for SL were singles players Tim Khayiat and Harry Ryan and doubles teams of Kyle Gravel and Weston Smith and Pat Kelley and Josh Bean. Great effort everyone!

Girls lacrosse


Silver Lake Girls lacrosse lost at Plymouth South today 14-11.  The Panthers got  the lead early and withheld a good comeback to win the Patriot League contest.  Sam Medlin led SL with 3 second half goals, and sophmores Nina Whidden and Lea Mason each had 2 goals and an assist.   Sr captain Emily Skerritt also had 2 goals and played a solid midfield in the loss.  Ryan Nolan and Mikayla Wilson each chipped in a goal.  Silver Lake drops to 2-7 on the season, 1-5 Patriot League.


Congrats to the boy's varsity and JV lacrosse teams for putting together two wins vs. Plymouth South. Varsity won 11-4. Jake Marani had 3g and Kyle McDonald had 2g. Solid play on face-offs by Sean Harkins, Drew Neal, Tyler Gillen, and Nick Iarossi. Matt Pacheco and Derrick Doncaster played sold defense all game. Justin Masterson started in goal & had 6 saves. JV won 8-4 playing a strong 4th quarter to break a 4-4 tie. Nolan McDonald, Tyler Heath, and Liam Kelleher helped lead the offense. Great effort by both teams.

Notice from MIAA regarding tournament and SAT dates


Lakers Dennett and Cadigan Represent at Patriot League Scholar-Athlete NIght

Last night the Patriot League hosted the PL Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet where a male and female athlete were honored from the 12 member schools. Kayla Cadigan (Halifax) and Westen Dennett (Kingston) were the 2 seniors honored from Silver Lake.These students represent the top student athletes in the PL based on academics, athletic participation, sportsmanship, leadership & citizenship.They have all successfully balanced a demanding academic schedule with participation in athletics & extra-curricular activities.. Nomination for this award shows 4 years of dedication & commitment.

Kayla & Westen are both members of the National Honor Society and are 12 Season Athletes! We are so proud of them!

Girls lacrosse

Silver Lake lost a tough game in Scituate 15-3. Lea Mason scored 2 goals and Mikayla Wilson added 1 in the loss. Emily Skerritt, Nina Whidden and Jess Neal all played well. Colby Nolan-Burkhart had 10 saves in the loss. Silver Lake falls to 2-6 on the season. Thursday at Plymouth South and Friday at home vs Hingham finishes a busy week for the team.

Chris Burgess (Junior) won the 400 Hurdles

Winners for SL were Tim Khayiat 6-3, 6-2
 Harry Ryan 7-5, 2-6 1-0 in a very exciting third set tie break.
Third singles had a great match though lost and
first and second doubles teams fought hard against 2 solid Plymouth North doubles teams.

Silver Lake Boys Soccer 2015 Alumni Game Saturday, June 13, 2015 4pm

Kingston, MA - Silver Lake Regional High School will host an alumni game for Boys Soccer on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the High School’s track field. 
The alumni will square off and challenge each other in a match starting at 4:00 pm, followed by a trackside BBQ cookout.  Family, friends and soccer fans are invited to come by and root for your favorite players – admission is free, game shirts, BBQ cookout and refreshments will be available for purchase. 
Teams are forming now - Alumni who would like to play should register by May 20th.  A $20 registration fee per player will cover the match, game shirts and the BBQ cookout. Click this link for the form to sign up to play:

Baseball team weekend recap

5/1/15

Silver Lake 9
Scituate 7

The Lakers overcame an early 7-1 deficit to defeat Scituate 9-7 in a key Patriot League game. Mike Melanson was fantastic in relief going 4 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit striking out 7. Adam Gay, Dan Cole and Josh Harvey each scored two runs as the Lakers rallied.

Will Gallagher was the star for the Lakers as he came into a bases loaded 1 out jam in the 2nd inning and struck out both batters he faced. Will pitched 3 1/3, allowing only 1 hit striking out 11. Anthony Videtto got the win as he was the pitcher of record when the Lakers broke the tie in the top if the 7th.

Gallagher also paced the Lakers offense as he went 1-2, 2 RBI (squeezed in the 1st and had the game winning RBI in the 7th), and a run scored. Josh Harvey pinch hit w 1 out in the top of the 6th and drove in the tying run. Mike Melanson went 2-4 w an RBI himself.

After the weekend the Lakers are now 7-4 and 4-2 in the league. The Lakers have two big league games this week when they host Middleboro Wednesday and Hingham Friday.

Boy's Varsity Lacrosse beat visiting Quincy 15-14. Kyle Durant had 5g, 1a, Juni Jordan had 3g, 2a, and Kyle MacDonald had 3g, 1a to help lead the offense. Derek Erbe made 9 saves.
