Girls Ice Hockey repeats as SEMGHL Northeast Champs

SENIOR NIGHT 
  • Lakers Win Versus Plymouth North (Plymouth, MA)
  • Silver Lake emerged victorious 60-39 against Plymouth North on Saturday on the strength of Joe McDonald, who scored 14 points.
  • Lakers pulled ahead early on the strength of a 23-point second quarter, running up the lead to 34-21 by halftime.
  • McDonald put the most points on the board for Silver Lake during the second period by scoring 10.
  • Two other players also racked up double digit scores for Silver LakeCam Keefe racked up 12 points and Rob Ventola had 11 points. Also helping the effort for Silver Lake were Joel Gerstenberg (5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Aidan O'Neill (5 points, 1 rebound), Jack Bettle (3 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals), Matthew Bettle (2 points, 1 rebound), Josh Harvey (2 points, 2 rebounds), and Drew Neal (2 points, 1 rebound).
  • Silver Lake finished the game with 42 rebounds (16 offensive / 26 defensive) and nine steals.

SL Girls Swim make history at MIAA Sectionals

Just a few years short years ago Silver Lake had one girl qualify for swim sectionals.  On Saturday February 11, 2017 the MIAA South Central Swimming and Diving Sectional Championships were held at MIT in Cambridge, MA. Of the 60 schools that competed at the championship, Silver Lake placed 5th overall! The best the team has done since the program started in 2006-07! This is an incredible achievement accomplished by 5 girls that had qualified and competed at the championship. The five girls included senior captains Lindsay Kalinowski and Kendra Doty, junior Madison Milbert, sophomore Katherine Morrissey and freshman Alexa Connors. Events that the Lakers competed in included: the 200 medley relay that included Milbert, Kalinowski, Morrissey and Connors that placed 3rd. The 400 freestyle relay with the same swimmers that placed 5th. Madison Milbert placed 1st in the 100 backstroke with a 57.72! She also placed 2nd in the 200 freestyle with a 1:54.10. Alexa Connors swam the 200 freestyle and placed 3rd with a 1:54.66 and the 500 freestyle in which she got 2nd place with a 5:09.27. Lindsay Kalinowski competed in the 500 freestyle with a 5:38.89 and 100 breaststroke with a 1:11.39. Katherine Morrissey swam the 100 fly placing 6th with a 1:00.37 and 100 breaststroke with a 1:11.69. Kendra Doty swam the 100 backstroke with a 1:06.74. Next weekend will be the Division 1 State Championship at Boston University- Go Lakers!

  • Lakers Emerge Victorious Against Quincy (MA)
  • Cam Keefe scored 14 points to bring Silver Lake to a 53-48 victory over Quincy on Friday. On a two-pointer from Joe McDonaldLakers secured their lead in the third quarter.
  • Silver Lake fell behind early, trailing 27-23 by the half, only to come back strong in the final two quarters.
  • Keefe set the pace for Silver Lake's offense, going 7-for-14 (50%) from the field.
  • Rob Ventola achieved double digits, scoring 12 points for Silver Lake (4-for-16). Also helping the effort for Silver Lake were McDonald (8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals), Jack Bettle (6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block), Cyhrief Kenku (5 points, 5 rebounds), Andrew Gabra (2 points), and Aidan O'Neill (2 points, 1 rebound). Ventola was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up eight rebounds and three steals.
  • Silver Lake finished the game with 40 rebounds (13 offensive / 27 defensive), three blocks and 10 steals.

  • Lakers Defeat Whitman Hanson
  • Rob Ventola scored 16 points, helping Silver Lake notch a 64-54 victory over Whitman Hanson on Friday. Lakers clinched their lead in the third quarter on a three-pointer from Joel Gerstenberg.
  • Putting up a 26-21 lead at the half, Silver Lake scored points early in the game. Silver Lake had a late in the game burst of energy, scoring a game-high 23 points in the third quarter on the heels of a 14-2 scoring run.
  • Ventola led the charge for Silver Lake's offense, scoring 16 points, with eight points during the fourth period. He also contributed two rebounds and one steal.
  • Gerstenberg put three three-pointers on the board and scored 13 points total. Two other players also scored in the double digits for Silver LakeJoe McDonald scored 16 points. Also helping the effort for Silver Lake were Cam Keefe (6 points, 6 rebounds), Jack Bettle (5 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks), Aidan O'Neill (5 points, 4 rebounds), and Drew Neal (3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals).
  • Silver Lake finished the game with 45 rebounds (15 offensive / 30 defensive), four blocks and four steals.


  • Lakers Beat Plymouth South (Plymouth, MA)
  • Silver Lake emerged victorious 65-46 against Plymouth South on Thursday on the strength of Rob Ventola, who scored 17 points.
  • Following a 21-2 run, Lakers commanded a 33-25 lead at the end of the first half.
  • Ventola put the most points on the board for Silver Lake during the third period by scoring seven.
  • Two other players also racked up double digit scores for Silver LakeJack Bettle added 16 points and Cam Keefe had 12 points. Also contributing for Silver Lake were Drew Neal (7 points, 1 rebound), Joel Gerstenberg (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal), Joe McDonald (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block), Josh Harvey (2 points, 1 rebound), Dan Collins (2 points, 3 rebounds), and Andrew Gabra (2 points, 1 rebound).
  • Silver Lake finished the game with 36 rebounds (11 offensive / 25 defensive), three blocks and seven steals.

Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic Banquet

Silver Lake athletes were recently honored at Patriot Ledger All-scholastic Dinner at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston.  Anna Battista for field hockey, Max Laferrera for football and Patrick McMahon, soccer attended along with Coach Marlene Lopes.  Former Patriot Troy Brown was in attendance.
