SL Volleyball

Silver Lake suffered a tough loss against Hanover Friday night, losing in 3 sets.  Senior Amanda Harris did a great job serving (14 serves with 4 aces), hitting (10 hits, 1 kill) and playing defense (7 digs).  Senior Emilee Dwyer had 14 hits and 3 kills as well as 2 blocks at the net.  Senior Mackenzie Sullivan had 10 hits with 3 kills.  Seniors Michela Cotten (13 digs) and Heather Fox (7 digs) played great defense as well.  The Lakers are hoping to bounce back from this loss when they play at Duxbury on Tuesday.

Silver Lake defeats Plymouth North

Silver Lake volleyball played a fabulous match on Wednesday against Plymouth North, defeating them in 5 sets with scores 25-20, 25-11, 19-25, 14-25, and 15-10.  The Lakers were led by junior Lindsey Bernasconi, who served 26 times with 4 aces, had 3 hits and 3 kills, and had 10 digs.  Junior Julia Tarantino served 35 times with 3 aces, had 3 hits, 1 kill, 6 digs and 18 assists.  Senior Michela Cotten had 25 digs and senior Hannah Mitchell had 11 digs.  The team demonstrated excellent teamwork and communication in this victory.  Keep it up Lakers!

SL Volleyball

The Silver Lake Volleyball team had a great win on Saturday morning to kick off Homecoming.  The girls defeated Sandwich in 3 sets, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-12.  The Lakers were led by Michela Cotten (14-17 serving, 3 aces, 2 kills, 18 digs).  Cat Donovan had 6 hits, 2 kills, and 6 blocks at the net.  Emilee Dwyer went 14-17 serving with 2 aces and had 10 hits, 5 kills and 1 block.  Julia Tarantino and Heather Fox did a great job setting our hitters so the team could stay aggressive offensively.  Amanda Harris and Hannah Mitchell played well defensively.  The team is hoping to continue with strong team play when they face North Quincy at home on Monday.

SL Volleyball

Silver Lake got their first win of the season tonight against Scituate!  They defeated Scituate 25-22 in the first set and 25-20 in the second set.  Scituate took the third set 20-25. Silver Lake came back and finished off the match with a victory in the fourth set 25-15.
The Lakers achieved their victory by giving their best effort, communicating with one another, and playing as a team.  
Some stats to be proud of:
Junior Lindsey Bernasconi went 17-21 serving and had 2 aces. 
Senior Michela Cotten lead the defense with 24 digs!
Senior Emilee Dwyer was great at the net with 24 hits with 3 kills.
Junior Cat Donovan had 21 hits, 11 for kills, and 6 blocks.
Senior Mackenzie Sullivan had 20 hits, 7 for kills.
Junior Julia Tarantino played great as setter with 24 assists.
Way to go Lady Lakers!!

Silver Lake played tough against Pembroke tonight!  SL lost the first game 25-14, but quickly rebounded and played close in game 2. SL lost 25-22, but won the third game 25-20.  SL lost the fourth game 25-18.  There were some incredible rallies between the two teams.
Michela Cotten, senior, was fantastic as libero.  She had 16 digs!
Amanda Harris, senior, went 15-16 serving and had 7 aces!
Emilee Dwyer, senior, had 14 hits, 3 kills, and 3 blocks.
They gave it there everything!  They played great defense, demonstrated strong teamwork and drive.

Michael Quigley pitched a complete game shutout (2-0) striking out 12 for Silver Lake improving the Lakers to 7-1, 4-1 on the season. Josh Harvey drove in the lone run of the game in the 3rd inning. Matt Hatfield was the hard luck loser as he pitched a complete game for Hingham striking out 4.

Silver Lake's Michael Quigley tosses no-no in 1st varsity start

Pembroke 1

Sophomore Michael Quigley threw a no-hitter in his first varsity start as Silver Lake defeated Pembroke 2-1. Quigley (1-0) was dominating striking out 11, only walking 3. Pembroke's lone run came when the RFer dropped a ball w 2 out in the bottom 7th. Runner took 2nd on defensive indifference, got to 3B on a wild pitch and scored on a balk.

Kyle Haugstad 3-3, Alex Heffernan 2-3 and Matt Bettle 2-4 led the Laker offense.
